I don't know enough about that to make any informed opinions on it. Mostly? I just know about stuff within the USA, and the War in Iraq. And I don't watch enough TV to know what the news says about it.

It's a genocide in the Sudan, and China is supporting the gov't responsible.

Ah, in that case, my uninformed opinion is that the US government should start putting pressure on China to keep them from supporting the government responsible for the genocide, and other countries should do the same. There's not much more that can be done than that on the US's part, since the US is expending so many rescources in Iraq, they wouldn't be able to do anything in the Sudan to help.

But they should be making an effort, at least there are some people addressing the problem.

The genocide.

I read a newspaper article today that said the US is still joining in the UN sanctions against the Sudanese government for the genocide, but they're giving us intel on Iraq, so the US government officials are just looking the other way for all intents and purposes. More reason NOT to be proud to be an American...

*shrug* I've never been particularly proud about being American. The American (and all governments) are corrupt and are only run by power hungry war-mongers who are only after their own personal gain, and that of whoever pays most.

I think that just because the gov't is corrupt, doesn't mean the principles on which this nation was founded have changed. We still have so many freedoms denied to so many people by, not only their governments, but their nation, that I find it hard not to proud of being American. I have my freedom, and that's all I need to be proud. The twisted ideas of a few people in the gov't won't change my mind on the nation as a whole, the foundation of our free lives.

Well, I show my American pride by lobbying against the PATRIOT Act. ;D

There's only one act with that acronym. That's the one that basically violates constitutional rights to privacy and free speech. I have actually gone to the offices of my senators and reps and delivered speeches.

Sorry, had a dumb moment. Sometimes some things are called patriotic acts when they aren't and yeah.

I forget what the acronym stands for, but somebody high up worked their rear end off to make it spell PATRIOT, that's for sure.

And for just a tiny bit more work, they could have made it spell "NOT PATRIOTIC."
